Kate Howard is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who is passionate about helping clients navigate life’s challenges, develop effective coping skills, and create meaningful change. She earned her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University and her undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies from Auburn University.

Kate’s therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic principles and Choice Theory, emphasizing empathy, personal growth, self-awareness, and empowerment. She integrates a variety of therapeutic modalities to help clients explore their experiences, recognize unhelpful patterns, and build skills that support their individual goals.

Kate has experience supporting clients through life transitions, military family life, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, anger, and substance use concerns. She brings warmth and compassion to the therapeutic relationship while helping clients establish meaningful, achievable goals and take practical steps toward lasting change.

Before entering the counseling field, Kate worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L), gaining experience with individuals across a wide range of ages, abilities, and adaptive needs. As a military spouse, she also brings personal insight into the unique transitions, stressors, and challenges experienced by active-duty service members and their families.

Outside the office, Kate enjoys skiing, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with her husband, dog, and cat.
